We started our venture with curds, but have expanded to high altitude scone mixes, wine jellies and chewy chocolate sauces.
What are curds?
We believe the origin of the name comes from the way the spreads were made many years ago. As any cook knows, when you add eggs to citrus the eggs can curdle if not added correctly. The original name for the dessert was most likely Lemon Curdle. This name was shortened to Lemon Curd, but with the knowledge of how to add eggs without the curdling effect, today's product is smooth and lump free!
With a wide variety of flavors to choose from, we're sure you'll be happy with our products. Our traditional (and not so traditional) English Curds are made in small batches with all natural ingredients.
Because there are no preservatives used, we recommend that you open the product within a few months of purchase or freeze it. Once the jar is opened, refrigerate the product and use within a few weeks.
You can use our curds the same way you use any jam or jelly. Spread them on toast, English muffins, crumpets, scones, bagels or between layers of cake instead of frosting. You can also spoon them on sponge cake, pound cake or angel food cake. Try dipping shortbread or vanilla wafers in for a delicious treat.
Our products make a great hostess gift. Add a poundcake or packet of cookies or a nice mug or cup with a box of gourmet tea or coffee to the curds or sauces and present in a basket or gift box. Voila! Instant gift giving success!
